Good Thing

What day is today again? It is more than just a Tuesday is it not?
Is it Groundhog’s Day?

Yes, I know, I know.
No, I didn't forget.
I was attempting to be funny.

Here we are and here I am. Apologies, I’m just not feeling romantic today on this seemingly 'commercialized forced day of recognition'. Mind you that is coming from a guy who has
always observed the holiday in full force and often been called a romantic (as well as dark, intense and perverted; and all by the same ladies).

D
o I wish I had someone to share today with of course.

I would love to be with a girl who would acknowledge that I was willing to pull out all the stops on my side and would in turn be willing to consider reciprocating and playing along with just some of the expectations of the day:

And even happier with a girl who would buy into the commercialism of it all; treating me to the simple pleasure of dressing up without genuine complaint into the uncomfortable and impractical designated outfit of the day, purchased by yours truly, such as this:

Isn't this girl just precious in her outfit?

Honestly, I could be happy with just some simple pleasures, such as this:

But alas not this year.

Therefore I was originally going to post a story about a total ungrateful spoiled brat getting her just desserts on Valentines Day, but decided to hold back. Who would possibly want to read something unromantic and painful like that on Valentines Day -?

Instead, I decided it best to focus on the positive and on those fortunate enough to be in love today and those even more fortunate to be in love with a partner who shares their lifestyle interests. It is not an easy thing to come by; either of those let alone both in one.
I toast you all, may you enjoy long, healthy, happy lives together.

So if anyone is interested: Who wants to share one of their favorite love songs?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Okay, I’ll start.

I’ll share my current state appropriate love song. Anyone remember this?

Alright, who wants to play?

Wishing you all a truly Happy Valentines Day!

  1. I do understand how you feel, Enzo...Valentine's day can be very lonely for those of us who are alone. I hope next year brings you the best possible lady for you! My Matthew and I used to send each other songs as a way to share messages. The last song he sent me before he died was "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/TdN5GyTl8K0 Hope you enjoy.

    Hugs and blessings...Cat

  2. I'm sorry you feel so blah today. I understand, truly. I didn't always have John, and I had many, many single Valentine's Days for years. I've never liked the forced Hallmark-ism of the day, but I do enjoy the simplicity of the expression of love and appreciation for one's special mate.

But yeah. It's not an easy day if you're single and surrounded by couple-dom. I hope you find your love-mate soon!

I like several love songs. If I'm in a light-hearted place, there are many Beatles choices ("And I Love Her," "I Will," etc.) And if I'm in a dark place, there's something about the ultimate love song, "I Will Follow You Into The Dark," that speaks to me.

  4. Cat -
Thanks for commenting. I am so sorry for your tragic loss.
That “I Won't Give Up” video is really well done - thanks for sharing.

    Erica -
Truly appreciate you stopping by and your understanding.
"And I Love Her" - Yes, great melancholic selection, thanks for that.

    Jan -
Thank you. The irony is that I’m not sure I’m ready for someone else just yet. It is the solitude that leads the mind towards constant replays and on holidays it is especially hard.

    Bogey -
    Cheers. Appreciate it.

  5. I have someone and we didn't do anything special. Neither of us ever get away to shop for the other and the flu is making it's way through the house.

Our love song is "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer.

  6. Heather -
We didn't necessarily used to go out to dinner on the actual day either, but I always acknowledged the day and tried to make it special in other ways.

"Kiss Me" - Absolutely great song choice.

Hope you all feel better soon,
    Enzo
