Well, here we are at the start of another new year - a new beginning full of promise!
Once again I must repeat a common song around here: I have been away; again longer than I anticipated. As in the past “real life” has gotten in the way of the fun things (and this little blog being one of them) and thus the short answer for my absence.
I won’t go into details of my absence, but I will share that I have seen many of the devastated places in the West ravished by wildfires first hand. I offered up my help and was put to use where organizations thought my skill set was best suited for. (Not the front lines as I would have hoped, but there are men and women whose actual jobs that is and who have done it bravely.) In the midst of that, I had to head off to see my father who is not doing well; multiple trips back and forth since November. Unfortunately, I may be called away again at any moment.
Nevertheless, you don’t visit here to hear gloomy news. No, I have learned you visit here for a distraction from “it”. A distraction from trivial yet time-consuming problems and or a distraction from the larger more serious and often personal troubles, and or from all those all-encompassing issues on a national level that affect us all one way or another.
How was your Christmas or other seasonal holiday? And what about your New Years; was it a spectacular celebration?
Both of mine (and Thanksgiving) were primarily un-event-like mostly due to the reasons stated above.
I did not receive what I wanted for Christmas. I was hoping for something like this:
This would have been near perfect.
If you are unfamiliar with Nik Zula you can check out his work here.
I am a fan of his work overall.
Although I did not receive what I wanted, I like to think this little scene was being repeated across the country.
Now that would put a smile on my face.
If you are unfamiliar with Kami Tora you can check out his work here.
Fair warning though his work is very graphic and this example is extremely mild and not his norm. Yet there is something still very appealing about his spanking specific illustrations.
Cheers to a New Year!
May it be filled with brighter days, bright smiles and bright bottoms!
I was working on a Holiday themed story during some downtime
but ended up holding back from publishing thinking the story
wasn’t quite fully thinned out.
